YGAP's Art For Change | June 16th & 17th

So why was I painting at ridiculous o'clock the night before my final exam? For @YGAP's ART FOR CHANGE!

The last two months have been the busiest and most stressful (hello gray hairs!) couple of months I've had - studying full time, working close to full time, painting, exhibiting, etc. With multiple big deadlines each week - whether art or school related - this is the first chance I've had to work on this. An added bonus was that while studying and the eyelids started feeling heavy, getting up and painting worked as good as a coffee.

With the deadline fast approaching it couldn't wait any longer. I may be feeling the pressure, but then I realise... How fortunate am I to have the opportunity to have such a jam-packed schedule?! To have the opportunity to study, to have a job, and to have access to all resources that have enabled RCHart to exist! For no other reason than pure luck I happened to be born into a society where this is all possible. And for no reason, others have been born into societies where this is barely in their foreseeable future. The work of NGOs such as @YGAP is a game changer for these people, and they need our support to do what they do so well. It doesn't matter how busy you are this week, or how 'broke' you are, we can all contribute one way or another. Ygap's 5 cent campaign is a perfect example of how something that means little to us makes a world of a difference to someone else. How many times have you seen a 5 cent coin on the floor and kept walking? Or any silver coin for that matter. So far they've collected close to 11 million coins, changing the lives of a whopping 139,591 people 👏🏼🙌🏼 But this is far from their goal, as for every person they've helped plenty more are still in need of their support. Their vision "we believe in a world where every child has access to an education". Education is the key.

ART FOR CHANGE will be held next door to @FeastOfMerit (111 Swan St, Richmond) on the June 16th. On the following day, June 17th, it will be open to the public and anyone will be able to bid on their favourite artwork. All money raised will go towards the campaign. Last year's event was a great success, I'm sure this one will be even better!
